Manuscript Assessment
aka Editorial Assessment
This is a wonderful tool for a manuscript that has been written, but not fully crafted. An assessment is a read-thru to identify the major elements that make your story shine.
The assessment is delivered in the form of a written brief along with a video of my thoughts.
The brief will address the following key points:

Where the story should start.

Highlight areas where the arc is not fully supported or characters that are not fully developed.

Identify missed themes that will better connect certain elements of the story.

Point out underdeveloped plots or issues with pacing.

Provide a revision strategy for the above findings.

Provide a video of my overall thoughts on how to best use the brief for your re-writes.

An manuscript assessment is a high-level review and does not provide direct edits or comments in the manuscript.

Investment: 1.5 cents per word
Developmental Edit
A developmental edit is best served on a manuscript that has already been crafted to the best of the writer's ability, or by a previous editorial assessment.
A Developmental Edit includes everything mentioned in the Editorial Assessment but takes it a step further. You will receive a line-by-line in-depth review of the writing with comments, edits and notes throughout the manuscript.
This is a great tool for a writer who feels confident in their crafting, or who has already done an editorial assessment. However, please note that it is not uncommon for a developmental edit to suggest major re-writes if the previous crafting poses opportunity for further improvement.

Before we move forward with this service, I will take a look at your first 10 pages to ensure you are at the stage of needing a developmental edit. If not, a manuscript assessment will be recommended.

While each project will receive a custom offer based off the review of the first several pages of writing, the average cost is .03 cents per word.

Hourly coaching calls help you stay on track and create a game plan of actionable steps to keep your manuscript moving towards completion. Coaching calls can focus on brainstorming storyline, or analyzing up to 5k of writing reviewed before the zoom call.
